This also happened to me on my capitalone card (that I hardly use) on June 26, 2009. I’d say it is highly suspicious.

I had a fake charge for $10 appear on a credit card on 8/12.
DPOCOLLC.COM was listed as the source.

Same thing just happened to me on a BoA card. I haven’t looked at the rest yet.

Oddly enough they charged a second card of mine for 12 bucks. One was charged on 8/15 and the second card had a charge on 8/17.

Two different cards.

I could probably find simularities as to where i’ve used those cards but there would be a ton of them since I use them both for business and eat out alot/etc.

I’m from Northern California but I found someone in Tennesse who also had a charge so I don’t think its a local retailer. Its most likely some webstore that was comprimised.

Same happened to me. Only my charge was: $8.63.

My card was inactive was years. And now I’ve received a statement.

Odd, I was just charge 9.95 from them on our corporate debit card. We dont’ use that card for anything, so when updating quickbooks I was really suprised.

Touché! Yeah…recent market behavior is making “risk free returns” sound pretty good. I think the logic still holds, though, over the long term: returns from partial ownership of businesses will exceed returns from debt (whether “buying” your own, or someone else’s–i.e., bonds or loaning to banks via saving accounts). The fact is, though, that ownership does come with risk (esp. in the short term), as has been made very clear.
